An intimate, raw exploration of the interior world of a single mother, STRETCHMARK examines the "taboo" emotions of parenthood --loneliness, boredom, anger. Weaving Super-8 home footage, voice over, and images of a woman's body, her child, and their urban landscape, the short is an exploration of motherhood and family. Moving beyond both the stereotype of the "welfare mother" and the suburban June Cleaver, STRETCHMARK foregrounds the multidimensional, often contradictory, daily realities of women raising children alone.
